Best case scenario, our jeans will last you a life time, for this reason we chose buttons and rivets from a well established traditional company. Berning from Wuppertal in Germany has been producing these for 120 years. Highest quality for the lifespan of our products.
We are proud to incorporate only the highest quality in our jeans, chinos and shorts. Our zippers from YKK are manufactured in Wenkbach, in Germany. They are extremely durable and a reliable part of our unique trousers.
If you can find 150 years of culminated know-how in one single thread, then you could say that it is a very special thread. So that our jeans keep their promise, we only sew with yarns form Gütermann from Gutach in Germany.
We have left nothing to chance for this special production stage; The production of the leather tabs is done to the "Confidence in Textile" Oeko-Tex 100 certified standard. The small Okinawa manufacture site is situated in a small town called Montagnana in the North East of Italy that is distinguished by an impressive ramparts from the 14th century.
Using local craftsmanship is of great value to SELFNATION. For this reason we have chosen a factory in Mendrisio in the Ticino region of Switzerland to manufacture our unique Jeans. Local production shortens the supply routes and guarantees us high quality and sustainability.
Inveruno in Italy is the place for high quality. Italdenim is the first producer of denim in the world that joined the Greenpeace Detox Agreement. The fine cotton is picked in Spain, Greece and the USA. To guarantee the exclusiveness of the denim, the cotton is spun to yarns in the same building. This is the only fabric that comes into consideration for production of our jeans.
Our Selvedge denim as well as other denim fabrics are produced north of Milan by Candiani, a family business in its fourth generation. The Selvedge denim is a premium denim woven by traditional means on a loom with shuttles. Through this special weaving technique a red edge is visible, the trademark of Selvedge. Candiani is one of the most sustainable and innovative denim manufacturers in the world and is GOTS certified.
Part of our denim fabrics is produced by the manufacturer Tejidos Royo situated near Valencia in Spain. To Royo, the sustainable production of fabrics with an eye to the entire value chain is highly important. Accordingly, the manufacturer is committed to the United Nations’ objectives of sustainable development (ODS).
Carlo Bonomi, the traditional weaving mill from the Province of Varese in Italy, manufactures various twill and denim fabrics for us. The fibres are spun into yarn at the same location as the fabrics are woven and coloured. This company of long-standing tradition represents highest quality since 1860.
Our head office is located in Zurich. Here, the innovative technology for the computer optimised patterns is developed, the online shop is maintained, the products are marketed, and the customers are taken care of.
Our collections are put together and the products are created in Berlin. Always at the centre of this process is a perfect balance between creativity, modernity and aesthetics – in accordance with the Berlin lifestyle. When designing the trousers, we pay special attention to making sure that our trousers delight our customers for a long time and become his or her favourite items of clothing which are not just a short-term trend.
